WHO WE ARE

We are a charitable foundation registered under perpetual Succession Act Chapter 164 Laws of Kenya. Our goal is to empower the community by initiating sustainable change using the Asset Based Community Development (ABCD) Model. Through community conversations, NGAO brings awareness in terms of asset, strength, capacity, and opportunities that lie unexploited.

THE FOOD CRISIS

The world produces enough food to feed all 8 billion people. Yet, 1 in 9 goes hungry every day. 26% of children in Kenya suffer from malnutrition. Malnutrition stunts children’s growth, causes depression, and leads to inability to work due to muscle weakness. Over 14.5 million Kenyans face food insecurity while 8.9 million live in extreme poverty. Our organization focuses on vulnerable families in the informal settlements and slums providing meals, counseling, clean water, and support groups.

We save children from scavenging and stealing to find something to eat. Slums and informal settlements are home to thousands of children and families. Food provides a sense of relief, hope, comforts reaffirming a person’s dignity and humanity. Ultimately, food is not just sustenance but a critical step toward recovery and rebuilding lives.

In the bustling streets of Kangemi, amidst the struggles and hardships, there is a young boy with a heart full of dreams and determination. George, just 16, has faced more challenges than most children his age could fathom. Losing his father at a young age left him and his two siblings in the care of their hardworking mother, who fought tirelessly to provide for her family.
Despite the odds being stacked against him, George’s spirit remained unbroken. However,George and his family could not afforded his school fees and he was forced to drop out of school at Form Two. With no means to continue his education, George found solace and a glimmer of hope at the NGAO Foundation.
George enrolled in NGAO’s electronic and electrical program, where he discovered a passion for the craft.  The program offered him the opportunity to learn and grow.  Now, as he completes Grade 3, he is unable to afford his examinations, without which he will not be able to move on to the next grade or secure employment.
George’s story is not just one of adversity.  It is a testament to resilience and the unyielding human spirit. Despite the challenges he has faced, George refuses to let his circumstances define him. He dreams of a future where he can use his skills to make a difference, to uplift his family and his community.
George cannot do it alone. He needs a helping hand, a sponsor who believes in his potential and is willing to invest in his future. By sponsoring George, you’re not just providing financial assistance; you’re offering him a chance – a chance to break free from the cycle of poverty, a chance to pursue his dreams, and a chance to create a better tomorrow for himself and those around him.
If you are reading this, I urge you to consider becoming a sponsor for George. Your support could be the turning point in his journey, transforming obstacles into opportunities and paving the way for a brighter future. Together, we can help George reach new heights and fulfill his potential!
