The Ngao Foundation understands the need of good nutrition and dangers of hunger, therefore through the Food and Nutrition program interventions it supports the vulnerable children and families by offering ready cooked food to children and dry food to families. The Food and Nutrition project is supporting the vulnerable families from Kangemi informal settlement but with the love of God it envisions to serve more communities from all over Kenya.<\/span><\/p><\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

More children and young people are surviving, but so far too few are thriving. Investing in nutrition for children and young people is a cornerstone investment if the world is to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals. Every weekend and school holidays, we prepare a plate of nutritious meals and snacks feeding approximately 200 children. No easy fixes if nutrition goes wrong in childhood, we need to meet malnutrition challenges by working across all relevant systems and sectors. Kangemi informal settlement exhibits huge cases of children from poor families roaming in the streets looking for any kind of food to eat. The situation is worse when school closes.<\/span><\/h1><\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

One cannot think well, work well or sleep well if he or she has not eaten. Therefore, you can\u2019t ask that family to lay down and sleep when hungry. Because of poverty and exclusion, the greatest risk of all forms of malnutrition is shouldered by the most disadvantaged families. Due to the low living standards, many families living in Kangemi informal settlements are not an exception to this malnutrition risk. Through the family relief food support project, The Ngao Foundation ensures these families are food secure.<\/span><\/p><\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Nutritional education and information are an important response to influence lifelong behaviour for healthier food choices, habits and overall nutrition. Our PRELACT project targets pregnant and lactating community mothers. Educating them on all aspect\u2019s maternal nutrition as a way to prevent any forms of malnutrition among themselves, their children and the entire household. Breast milk is not just food \u2013 it’s a powerful medicine tailored to the infant\u2019s needs, therefore we emphasise to them on breastfeeding.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
